The leaked image was posted up by prominent hardware leakster @momomo_us. Specifically, the labels on the CPU cover indicate that the cover is designed to fit both LGA18XX and LGA17XX sockets. Regarding the former socket, it is relatively apparent that the name is referring to the LGA1800 socket, which is expected to debut with Intel’s 12th generation Alder Lake-S desktop CPUs. As per our earlier reports, CPUs of that generation are expected to be physically different than currently existing Intel CPUs, taking on a bigger and longer design and layout. Making it slightly like the design of Intel’s Core Extreme CPUs in the past. Of course, these are all speculations, and we’ll just have to wait until September this year to learn more.

For the uninitiated, it was previously reported that AMD could be shifting from its current PGA design to an LGA design, for its next-generation, 5nm, Zen 4 Ryzen lineup. This would be the second time the CPU and GPU maker will have made such a transition, the first being with its Ryzen Threadripper HEDT CPUs. However, there is also a more likely rumour that the CPU cover may be compatible with another Intel CPU lineup, Meteor Lake, although, at this point, there is very little information about the lineup at this stage.
