The 7nm Navi GPU is slated as the replacement and successor to AMD’s current Vega GPU. The latter being the GPU architecture used in making the brand’s high-end Radeon RX Vega 56 and Vega 64 GPU.
Funnily enough, tech site Fudzilla also reports that AMD’s Navi 7nm will not be made for the enthusiast GPU market. Rather, the company wants to position the GPU as a performance and mainstream GPU. But while the initial tests are showing promise, it doesn’t look like AMD plans on releasing the Navi 7nm any sooner than in the second half of 2019. Additionally, speculation expects AMD’s CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, to be making an announcement regarding the new GPU at next year’s CES 2019 keynote. Sadly, that’s all the news there is surrounding the Navi 7nm GPU. Until then, AMD is still on track for rolling out a new 7nm Vega GPU later this year, which should be able to placate us till the official availability and announcement of Navi.
