A lengthy 30-minute gameplay video was leaked on Reddit earlier today, which showcased a lot of what the new Assassin’s Creed game has to offer. These include land and sea combat, the RPG-like mechanics, exploration, and many others. However, the original Youtube video uploaded was inevitably taken down by Ubisoft not long after, but was salvaged by another user and uploaded to Streamable.
Based on the video, Valhalla almost shares a lot of similarities with its predecessor Odyssey in terms of visuals and some gameplay mechanics. Although Ubisoft appears to have thrown in new tweaks and additions to combat, horse riding, sea battles, sieges and character growth. Those familiar with other titles such as The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and even Elder Scrolls: Skyrim may spot some familiar elements in the video which clearly show where Ubisoft may have gotten their inspirations from. Also worth noting is that this would be the first time we’ve actually seen the female variant of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s protagonist Eivor in action as well.
The video also displayed some amusing bugs occurring almost consistently in the game such as collision errors, NPCs standing idly during major battles, props floating in mid-air, and so on. That said, glitches like these are to be expected from an early build, and that could be the reason why Ubisoft held back from showcasing any gameplay for the time being. For the publisher’s sake, we do hope most of these issues will be addressed before the game is officially released towards the end of the year.
— Ubisoft (@Ubisoft) July 3, 2020 Meanwhile on the official side of things, Ubisoft previously announced that they will be providing more details and maybe more gameplay footage of the game during their Ubisoft Forward event. The digital conference will be held on 12 July, and will also feature other games including Watch Dogs: Legion and Hyper Scape. (Source: Reddit)
