The company says the new DJI Mini 2 features vast improvements over its predecessor, with better imaging capabilities, flight performance, and significantly enhanced transmission technology, among many others. As described from the aforementioned leak in our previous report, the drone sports a folding design for mobility and adding to that is its lightweight body that weighs less than 249 grams.
It now comes with DJI’s OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology which ensures stable, long distance, and reliable connectivity between the user and the device itself. This is further enhanced with a dual-frequency feature that automatically switches between channels to prevent any interference, and the drone now sports a maximum transmission range of 2km. Other hardware improvements include a battery that provides 31 minutes of flight time, as well as upgraded motors for faster acceleration, speed, and the ability to withstand winds up to 38 kph. Navigation features on the DJI Mini 2 include a drone-to-mobile phone live feed, high-grade positioning via GPS tracking, and vision sensors for assisting automated landings. Whereas safety features include GEO fencing which keeps the drones out of sensitive areas like airports, a Return to Home feature, and Altitude Lock that adjusts the limit on how high the drone can go.
As for the optical capabilities on the Mini 2, the drone features a 1/2.3-inch sensor which is capable of capturing 12MP images in JPEG and RAW, as well as a maximum video resolution of 4K/30fps. This is further enhanced with a 3-axis gimbal for shake-free and smooth footage, and the ability to digitally zoom at 2X (lossless) as well as 4X. Of course, imaging via the DJI Mini 2 also includes various shooting modes including Quickshots, Panoramas, HDR and Timed Shots. DJI also introduced a slew of accessories to go along with the new drone. These include 360-degree Propeller Guards, Charging Display Case, and a Snap Adapter which allows for attaching a small signage-like LED screen onto the drone. Other than that, there’s also a DIY Creative Kit that enables users to personalise their Mini 2 with custom or blank stickers, and a DJI Mini Bag Plus for storing and carrying the drone wherever you go.
The new DJI Mini 2 is available for purchase on 10 November 2020 at the DJI Malaysia Flagship store, authorised dealers, and its official store on e-commerce platforms on Shopee and Lazada. The drone comes in two options: a standard package at RM1,899 which includes DJI Mini 2, a remote controller and one battery, and the Fly More Combo at RM2,499 which includes the drone, three batteries, a charging hub, a carrying case and remote controller.
