The announcement was made by Hermen Hulst himself, head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios. He also happens to be the former head of Guerilla Games, the developer of Horizon Zero Dawn. The reason is to “introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on”. He did go on to say that not all exclusives will also make the transition.

— AP (@THEAP99) March 10, 2020 This announcement also garnered some interesting responses from PlayStation fans. The most vocal of them are obviously the ones with less-than-positive things to say over the Horizon Zero Dawn port. One of which includes the trashing of a gaming setup. Naturally, there are two sides to this whole thing. On one hand, there’s naturally the thought that there’s no need to buy PlayStation machines anymore. This Horizon Zero Dawn port does suggest that exclusives have a chance to make their way to PC anyway. Of course, Hulst had already denied this.

But on the other, an exclusive released early in the PS4’s life getting ported at the very end makes sense. It allows more people get to try the game. PlayStation also doesn’t actually lose much since most of the people who will buy the game already did. For now, the Horizon Zero Dawn port on Steam doesn’t even have a release date yet. But it will be interesting to see what else PlayStation Worldwide Studios does with its exclusives library in the future. (Source: PlayStation via Guerilla Games / Twitter, Steam)
