As a bit of a background, Qwant is a web search engine developed by a team in Paris. Available in 13 languages, the search engine claims that it does not employ user tracking, unlike Google. Huawei says that all its P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro+ within France, Italy, and Germany will ship out with the Qwant search engine pre-installed. For other Huawei devices, the app can be downloaded via its self-name AppGallery. Huawei says that the partnership is “born out of shared commitment to protect users’ data privacy and security”, and that the search engine has been tailored to provide “more efficient app searches” for European users.
