The reports come following a set of photos from ChargerLAB, which appeared on Weibo. If this is true, then this will be the first time that Apple has braided its lightning cables for iPhones. Prior to this, Apple has braided its Thunderbolt Pro cables, the black Lightning cable that is bundled with the Mac Pro, and a braided power cable for the HomePod.
Braided cables are usually more durable than the standard rubber coated ones. Apple’s braided cables may have other elements that make it even more so. Another element is better resistance against corrosion on the contact points on the cable. For long-time Apple users, a Lightning cable with better durability is always welcome. And it serves as a nice contrast to the rumours of the iPhone 12 not coming with a charging adapter. Unless, of course, you’re in favour of the phone not getting a the adapter.
