It’s not just some run-of-the-mill drone patent either. As per a report by Dronebelow, patent illustrations explicitly show a drone that is figuratively armed to the teeth with a variety of parts. Including folding arms, sensors, at least one camera, and the usual gyroscope, accelerometer, and barometer. What makes this drone patent interesting is in the way it’s compacted. The aforementioned foldable arms, in particular, seems to be able to fold right into the drone’s main structure, making it seem less bulky and also easier to stow away.
The main structure is equally as interesting. As you can see from the first image, it’s seems to comprise two compartments that seems to be attached to a sliding bar. Which is what seems to allow it to discreetly stow the propeller arms out of sight. Samsung’s patent also states that the drone can be controlled by virtually “any electronic device”, including smartphones, tablets, PCs, wearables, and oddly enough, home appliances such as washing machines. As these things usually go, there is no tentative date of launch for this drone, nor is there any confirmation that drone will even enter a fabrication process. That said, Samsung did make good on its promise of its flexible display, so one can hope that this patent does becomes a reality. (Source: Dronebelow)
