As you may know, the government switches its PPN approach from a nationwide implementation to state-level although the key indicators remain identical which include the amount of daily COVID-19 cases, ICU occupancy rate, and the percentage of the adult population that have been fully vaccinated. While DPM Ismail said that Sarawak has managed to meet all of the pre-requisite Phase 2 indicators as stipulated by PPN, the announcement didn’t provide any actual figures though. According to statistics from the Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine Supply, 27.3% of Sarawak’s adult population have been fully vaccinated as of 11 July 2021 at 11:59 PM while the Ministry of Health has said that the state has recorded 235 new cases today. Prior to this, other states that have received Phase 2 designation includes Sabah, Penang, Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang. In other words, the northern and east coast part of Peninsular Malaysia together with East Malaysia are already on the recovery path, as far as PPN is concerned. If you are wondering about the new SOPs for Sarawak, you can refer to the brief guideline above by the Sarawak Disaster Information’s Facebook page for the time being.
