Geoff Keighley, the person behind The Game Awards, made the announcement of the Steam Game Festival on Twitter. The Game Festival may have only had 13 games free to play the last time. This time, the festival this time has over 40 upcoming indie games in the spotlight. The games come from a number of other indie demo day events, that also participate in the GDC.
— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) March 18, 2020 The idea of the festival, though, should be mostly the same. The last time, it was so that you get to preview of upcoming games. According to The Verge, now you get to preview upcoming indie games that would have been showcased at GDC had the event went on. If you’re looking to give the long list of indie games to try, you can already do so via Steam. There are currently 52 games already live, at the time of writing. The Steam Game Festival Spring Edition will be running from today, 19 March 2020, until 23 March 2020. (Source: Geoff Keighley / Twitter via The Verge, Steam)
