Well, now it’s confirmed that, while not exactly a romantic comedy per se, WandaVision will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first sitcom. But don’t worry, there will be your usual comic book-y action stuff in it as well. In an interview with IGN during Disney’s D23 Expo, Matt Shakman (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) who will be directing all six episodes of the series had this to say: Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda in the MCU and Paul Bettany who plays Vision shared similar sentiments:
Bettany: It’s definitely the oddest of all the Marvel endeavours so far. The show has also signed on some of the funnier supporting characters in the MCU too, namely Randall Park (who played Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man 2) and Kat Dennings (who played Darcy Lewis in Thor 1 and 2). When asked why Darcy and Jimmy Woo are returning to the franchise, Jac Schaeffer, Executive Producer of WandaVision said: If you’re wondering how Marvel Studios is planning to tell a story centred around a dead character (Vision died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War), we don’t really have a proper answer to give. When asked the question, both the cast and the crew gave responses that a politician would be proud of. However, they did use words like “weird” and “unexpected direction.”
